Journal List rules and regs

It always happens - people find ways of cheating. The new policy, which comes into effect on Monday 21st August, 2000, accounts for the more devious among us.

If people are caught breaking these rules, their listing could well be deleted without notice. If you are at all in doubt, like the honest person that you are - do email me to make sure everything's in order.

For general information about the list, see the info page.

Rules
  • Votes cast for your site must come from a clickthrough from the specified link code you were sent. The use of pop-up windows, hidden frames, server scripts, crafty Flash movies etc etc are strictly prohibited. People have to *click* your link.
  • To entice your readers to vote, you must not use any misleading text. By this, I mean "Click here for free money", "This is where the fun's at" etc etc. The guidelines are:
    • "Vote for me at the Journal List", "Click here to vote", etc. Mild encouragement within the journal itself is allowed, as long as the reader is aware where they are heading when they click the link.
    • The link can be descriptive to the content of the site - i.e. "Click here for more journals", "The Journal List", "Other Journals" etc.
    • Any of these methods can be used with, or without an official banner (or one that is approved). The banner can also be used on its own.
